Disney+ officially announced on August 26, 2026, that media personality and content creator Maura Higgins has been selected to host its upcoming revival of the classic dating series "Blind Date." Higgins takes on the role historically associated with television icon Cilla Black, who steered the original program for nearly two decades.
The newly commissioned 10-part series introduces modernized production elements to the familiar television format. Competitors will select suitors from behind a signature divider wall before embarking on shared summer residency arrangements, with unexpected format twists and potential new suitors introduced throughout the season.
Since making her breakout television debut on "Love Island" in 2019, Higgins has expanded her career into digital media, luxury fashion partnerships, and international television presentation. Her previous credits include hosting "Love Island USA: Aftersun" and competing on Peacock's hit competition series "The Traitors US."
Higgins's appointment as host of "Blind Date" adds another major broadcasting project to her autumn line-up. In addition to her hosting duties on Disney+, Higgins is set to compete on Season 35 of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," where she is paired with professional dancer Mark Ballas.
